What is a domain appraisal?
A domain appraisal is an estimate of what a domain name is likely to sell for on the open market. Examplars produces a lower-to-upper value range rather than a single number, because real domain sales are negotiated within a range.
How does the Examplars domain value estimator work?
Three signals are combined: heuristic scoring of the name itself (length, pronounceability, dictionary words, extension strength, premium keywords), similarity matching against a database of recorded marketplace sales, and an AI review that sanity-checks the result against those comparables.
Is the domain appraisal free?
Yes. Every appraisal on Examplars is free, requires no account, and has no usage fee.
Which domain extensions are supported?
All valid extensions in the IANA root zone are supported, not just .com. Country-code, legacy and new gTLD extensions are all appraised, with extension quality factored into the estimate.
Why is the estimate shown as a range instead of one price?
Domain pricing depends on the buyer, timing and negotiation. A range communicates realistic outcomes: the lower bound is closer to a fast wholesale sale, the upper bound reflects a motivated end-user buyer.
Can the estimate be lower than a real sale of the same domain?
No. If we hold a recorded sale for that exact domain, the estimate is floored at that price so a valuation never contradicts a known transaction.
Where does your comparable sales data come from?
From recorded public marketplace and aftermarket sales that have been imported into our database, including the price, currency, sale date and marketplace where available.
How accurate is a domain appraisal?
Automated appraisals are estimates, not guarantees. They are most reliable for short, dictionary-word and brandable names in common extensions where comparable sales exist, and least reliable for highly niche or long names with no comparables.
Can I use an Examplars appraisal to price my domain for sale?
It is a useful starting point for setting an asking price and for judging offers, but you should also consider the buyer's business value, traffic, age and any trademark constraints. The appraisal is informational and is not a formal valuation.
Do you buy or broker domains?
No. Examplars only produces appraisals. We do not buy, sell, broker or list domain names, so there is no incentive to inflate or deflate an estimate.
